What and how many different feed mixtures with their multitude of manufacturers are there on the European pet bird market? Many will now say, "without end" and there is certainly no end in sight. The inexperienced bird lover will now think, how can you tell a good food mixture from a mediocre one? Is it perhaps due to how often positive reports are received about a manufacturer or is it due to the advertising strategy a provider pursues for its products. Constant information on social media, such as Facebook, Instagram, trade magazines, etc. combined with beautiful pictures of your products on their pages flooding the market? Here is some well-intentioned advice from us in the interest of your birds. In fact, always compare the different products from all providers carefully before making a purchase. Only then should you decide which company and its products you would like to make a purchase with.
The range is huge and is becoming more and more diverse from year to year. Can a true bird lover and bird friend still see through it all? Basically, one thing should be considered in advance. For the majority of bird lovers and bird breeders, feed mixtures still play only a minor role. Many are of the opinion that daily bird food should simply serve its purpose, but very few bird lovers give any thought to the ingredients used in the feed mixtures. If only half of bird lovers gave as much thought as they do to their own daily food, the life expectancy of many of our feathered friends in their cages and aviaries could be increased by a considerably longer time. But this is where opinions differ. The content of many feed mixtures offered on the market in terms of individual seeds and ingredients used is fundamentally inadequate and incorrectly composed. The price and quality of each mixture depends exclusively on the ingredients used. Every bird lover should be aware that you can never buy a so-called top mix for any bird species at a spot price on the market. Over the last thirty-three years we have been asked again and again which feed manufacturer is basically the BEST supplier on the market. What should you say to a customer if we as a retailer have three or four different suppliers in our range? Is an honest answer even possible? I think the most common answer will be, "These mixes in our range are all fundamentally different from one another." Is that really the honest answer or is a retailer just trying to reach more and more customers through the large number of different suppliers through price and offer? But one thing is a fact. We all normally feed our birds with what seems to us to be confidential statements from others and the feed mixes that our birds eat best. But are the feed mixes that are eaten best, in terms of their composition, actually the best and healthiest mixes for our birds? Every bird lover should be able to answer this question for themselves. For many years now, we have been of the opinion that we should develop our own bird food mixtures based on our years of breeding experience with many different bird species.
The healthy keeping and successful breeding of many different bird species in our own birdhouses have underlined this year after year in more than 45 years of bird-loving. For this reason, we continue to develop our mixtures year after year and continually put our entire range to the test. This is the only way to improve all mixtures, combined with improved living conditions and perhaps a healthier food supply for all our feathered friends. When processing or producing our feed, we attach great importance to cleanliness and absolutely pest-free individual components. After a careful incoming inspection of all feed, we are interested in processing as quickly as possible in order to avoid long and unnecessary storage times. When packaging our mixtures or our individual seeds, we only use materials that virtually exclude the entry of pests such as grain beetles, feed moths or other pests until the customer opens the packaging.
